There are many magical villages in Mallorca and Deià is absolutely one of them. It is a small coastal village that lies in the heart of the Tramuntana mountains in the north western part of Mallorca.

Discover Deià

Deià is a beautiful town on the Mallorcan coast known as Costa Norte, situated between the Sierra de Tramuntana and the sea. The name Deià originates from the time of the Moors conquest of Mallorca, the word meaning ‘village’. It is the home of writers, artists and well-known celebrities.

The city centre, with its charming houses, sits on the side of a small hill that overlooks the Mediterranean. It has remained intact through the passage of time, where today the village is still very much an artist’s town with a lovely selection of art galleries, gift shops and restaurants.. In the vicinity of this town, the coast forms secluded coves that exude tranquility and which are the ideal setting to enjoy an idyllic walk.

With Deia being located within Mallorca’s iconic Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, it means the village and its surrounding area is a wonderful base for the lovers of sport. With ample choice of hiking and cycling routes, one can really appreciate the beauty of Mallorca’s breath-taking landscapes.

Cala Deià

Cala Deià is a very beautiful but small beach with clear waters and rock pools. It’s one of the few beaches on the west coast of Mallorca, but don’t expect miles of golden sand as the cala is somewhat of a rugged beach.

Surrounded by medium-sized cliffs, crowned by low hills and pine forests, Cala Deia opens to a small torrent. The access to the cove includes a small and unique forest that follows the stream until it reaches the cove. Before arriving at the beach, you can see small boats used by fishermen.

The beach has a excellent restaurant, Ca’s Patró March, serving fresh seafood and traditional Mallorcan food where you can sit and enjoy the spectacular surroundings. Some of the scenes in the TV series The Night Manager were shot in this restaurant. Since then the restaurant is a hostpot on the island, a must-visit!

This is the place to enjoy great food and just relax. One might spend the days to wander the cobblestone streets and look at all the ochre colors “fincas”. Visit art galleries and buy locally made ceramics.
