Good news for all lovers of bread and olive oil! Oli de Mallorca take part in the first ‘pa amb oli’ World Championships, seeing its first fair held between February 28th and March 3rd.
Tying in with the Day of the Balearic Islands on March 1st, the event aims to promote the food and boost its availability in bars and restaurants.
Sebastià Solivellas, President of Oli de Mallorca and member of the jury, is extremely satisfied that the island will be included in the Championship, expressing Majorcan’s real love for the food. He believes that the championship will be a great success, because the truth is, no Majorcan spends a week without eating it and there is so much versatility to something so basic as bread and oil.

The World Oil Championship has been organised by AgenciaCom and Restauración Mallorca, in collaboration with the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Association of Bakers and Confectioners of the Balearic Islands and ASCAIB.
Alfonso Robledo, President of the Association, explained that as well as traditional takes on bread and olive oil, judges will also be looking for modern pa amb oli fusions. In addition to an expert selection of judges, the winner will be congratulated by top chef Andreu Genestra.
